I have been working as a self-employed Carpenter and Lime Specialist since completing the Prince's Foundation's Young Heritage Apprenticeship in Traditional Building Crafts in July 2017. I have worked with a variety of conservation companies - Dolmen Conservation, Cliveden Conservation and Croft Conservation - as well as undertaking jobs for private clients. Alongside my site work I also work part-time for 23 Violins - a Banbury-based luthiere workshop.

I completed a one-year, placement-based apprenticeship in traditional building crafts with the Princes Foundation. As part of this apprenticeship I have gained a Level 3 Award in Understanding Maintenance and Repairs to pre-1919 Buildings, a NQV Level 2 in Maintenance and Repairs to Buildings, and completed a Level 1 Health and Safety Exam from which I can apply for a CSCS Card.The course included an initial three week summer school with tuition in carpentry, stone masonry, lime plastering, pargetting and thatching. I then chose to focus my placements on carpentry and lime work, working with a variety of craftspeople and companies across the UK. My placements included:Various projects with Plasterer/Pargetter Jo Welsh for private clients in Suffolk and London - this included sympathetic plastering as well as new decorative work. All completed using lime mortars and plastersTimber repairs with Jervis Homes during the restoration of a grade II listed C17 pub.Drystone wall repairs with Jervis Homes as part of a barn conversionRe-pointing work with the Landmark Trust at Llwyn Celyn with tuition from Ty Mawr Lime.
