AFDAL Lebanon

AFDAL is an Advocacy Force for Development and Anti-Corruption in Lebanon. We are a group of Lebanese youth activists from diverse backgrounds, different regions and various universities, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with the belief that youth have a key role in enabling change and building Lebanon forward. We consider that corruption is behind the multifaced crisis that Lebanon is facing, it undermined our rights, weakened the state institutions, affected economic development, and contributed to governmental instability. Corruption is threatening our future and dreams for a better country. Therefore, we are committed to advancing Lebanon’s anti-corruption reforms in line with the country's National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2020-2025) which the Council of Ministers adopted in May 2020, the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) to which Lebanon is a State Party since 2009, and more broadly the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16 on “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions”. That being said, we hold ourselves responsible for advocating for and monitoring the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, as it provides us with a realistic, practical, and measurable national road map to build a better State which upholds integrity and justice at the heart of its institutions. We believe that there is no political will to fight corruption unless we, the youth, be on the frontlines of advocacy and change.
