AHOY is an internationally operating, women-owned branding and communication design agency, hatched in New York City in 2000. Today, ahoy operates between the USA, Germany and Switzerland under the creative direction of Connie Koch, Aline Ozkan and Denise Sommer: friends, founders and partners with a mutually rewarding passion for design in any form. Our goal is to deliver exceptional design with just that extra amount of playfulness, color and irritation that makes the result more striking, contemporary and memorable. We see communication as a power to shake up, inspire and engage minds, hearts, and lives. We specialize in visual and verbal communication with a pleasant wake up call for everyone and everything seeking to make our world a more caring, creative and progressive place, leaving no one behind. Art and design; cultural exchange; education; environmental protection; social justice; peace and security; global health; women’s rights; equity and sustainability are some of the issues we support with our work. Ahoy’s work includes the design of brand identities, websites, campaigns and publications online and in print, illustration, animation, video and data visualization to inform, engage and spark action. We offer strategy guidance, too. Over twenty years in practice, ahoy has reached adulthood. With it comes an international reputation for developing award-winning design concepts for clients with an exceptionally high standard of design sophistication. They include conferences, award shows, festivals, publishers, universities, theaters and galleries, cultural organizations as well as foundations, local and global government institutions and international NGOs, such as Bloomberg Philanthropies, The Global Fund, several agencies of the United Nations, the Vilcek Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the AICP Show and Next Awards, New York University and NY Public Radio.
