About Us Since 1997, Bindner Academy has helped hundreds of individuals aged 7 to 87, bring power and balance into their lives through life skills and leadership training. We offer one-on-one coaching, private and group training, and adventure based team building presentations and workshops in performance and leadership. How We Got Started In 1997, Derek Bindner was working as an executive/close protection specialist (Bodyguard), when he was charged with leading a group of seven operatives during a labour dispute in the Niagara region. Without any special training, Derek had a huge challenge on his hands with great responsibility. Call it luck or skill, but the mission was successful, and Derek’s “real life” leadership journey began. he vowed to never let his team members work in the field without the proper leadership training and skills to ensure mission success. Later, in the same year, Derek founded Bindner Academy, a life skills and leadership training company that coaches individuals, executives, companies and organizations locally, nationally and internationally.
