Alipasti. A new brand that goes way back. The bustling harbour of Volos is considered to be the capital of Greek meze [appetizers] and its countless, picturesque little restaurants, known as tsipouradika, are certainly a testament to this. George Karagounis was born and raised in Volos. From a young age he joined the family business, which had been established by Efstathios Karagounis in 1950, and he very soon took over production and the crucial post of creating recipes for the business’ products. With many years of valuable know-how under his belt, in 2022 he decided to start a new venture and invested in a state-of-the-art production plant. He named his company Αlipasti, which is a play on the Greek word alipasta [salted] and the Italian word antipasti [appetizer]. Through the years, he has managed to build long-lasting relationships with fishermen from Greece and abroad, and has fully mastered his trade. Under the brand name Alipasti, he has created a series of clean label products that are free of any preservatives, using only pure, natural ingredients, which is just what one needs for a tasty Greek meze. Small and large fish, sliced or whole, smoked or marinated, plain or spicy, Alipasti is the very definition of delicious Greek meze.
