AmeriCorps Central Texas

AmeriCorps Central Texas (ACT), is a collaboration of nine local nonprofit organizations offering you a wide range of opportunities to create a better future for yourself and Central Texas through paid AmeriCorps service. As with serving in the military or Peace Corps, AmeriCorps lets you serve your local community, making it stronger and healthier. Getting paid for giving back to your community is just one of the benefits you have access to by serving through AmeriCorps Central Texas. Other include (but are not limited to): • Earn an education award to use toward college tuition or student loan debt. • Obtain health insurance. • Defer payment on student loans, • Receive training on new marketable skills. • Explore new career options without any risk. • Expand your personal and professional networks. By serving with AmeriCorps Central Texas (from 3 months to a year) you will be able to address critical community needs including: • Pre-K - 12 Education - Literacy, STEM, & Mentoring • College Access & Completion • Adult Education - GED & ESL • Workforce Development • Environmental Stewardship & Disaster Relief • Building Homes for Low-Income Families • Housing Assistance & Homelessness Prevention
