The Anemoi project studies the potential chemical emissions from offshore wind farms (OWFs) and their impact on ecosystems and aquaculture. Along with the development of OWFs in European waters, several impacts on the marine environment have already been identified (e.g. habitats, currents, fisheries). However, the possible contamination of marine environment by dissolved and particulate pollutants, e.g. due to corrosion protection systems, are largely overlooked.
As such, Anemoi aims to (1) identify relevant chemical emissions from OWFs, (2) to assess the effect on ecosystem and aquaculture activities and (3) to propose solutions and opportunities to reduce chemical emissions from OWFs.
