African Network of Young Leaders for Peace and Sustainable Development

African Network of Young Leaders for Peace and Sustainable Development is a Pan-African Network working across Africa committed to climate justice, and biodiversity conservation and restoration in order to ensure that the continent’s natural resources are sustainably managed to bring about positive ecological and socio-economic transformation for communities. ANYL4PSD is particularly working in the nexus environment, peacebuilding, migration and conflicts to ensure the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals agenda. African Network of young Leaders for Peace and Sustainable Development leads the New Deal for Nature and People Coalition made up of over 800 youth and civil society organizations and networks committed to the Nature Positive vision: Halt and reverse the catastrophic loss of biodiversity and put nature on a path to recovery for present and future generations. The coalition is committed for Forest, climate crisis, food, oceans, wildlife and freshwater. That is to • help restore forests and put deforestation-free commitments into action • helping people adapt, creating strong alliances for climate justice • create sustainable food systems that ensure food security and protect nature, now and in the future • Investing in a sustainable “blue economy, protecting the ocean’s natural treasures by ensuring the world’s most important fisheries and ocean ecosystems are productive and resilient, and improve livelihoods and biodiversity • protect plant and animal species by tackling the root causes of the many serious threats, supporting protected areas, clamping down on the illegal wildlife trade and influencing consumer choice • ensure that freshwater ecosystems and their services sustain people and nature.
