Apostle Whey Cheese

Located just 15 minutes from the world famous 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, Apostle Whey Cheese offers a family-friendly foodie experience at their dairy farmgate! Established by dairy farmers Julian and Dianne Benson in 2005 Apostle Whey Cheese is a labour of love that combines their two passions – sustainable farming and boutique, artisan produce. The paddock-to-plate operation means that all cheeses are made from pure milk which has been produced by their cross-bred herd of Friesian/Jerseys. Apostle Whey Cheese provides visitors with a unique agritourism experience where they can see many aspects of operation, from calving in the “mooternity ward”, cheeses made by hand and the cows being milked at 4pm daily. Farm tours are available Monday to Friday by appointment. Visitors can take a break in the farmgate café and share a cheese platter, coffee, toasties, gelato or a milkshake - all made using “our milk from our cows from our farm”! Tastings of Apostle Whey Gin, produced in collaboration with Apollo Bay Distillery, are also available in the farmgate cafe. This range of unique gin is a blend of botanicals and “whey spirit” from our cheesemaking process. Apostle Whey Cheese is a family-owned, single origin dairy farm and welcomes visitors 7 days a week every day of the year (except Christmas Day)!
