On May 2, 2025, the ARC Network cooperative agreement was terminated. As a result, ARC Network’s home organization, WEPAN - Women in Engineering ProActive Network, must cease current and future activities under award #2121468.
This community has dedicated itself to ensuring STEM is a space where all can have access and thrive from education through career. Together, we have pushed for increased integration of social sciences, social justice frameworks, and collective action models. Though we must acknowledge that the significant loss of funding for this community is devastating, the termination of grants will not stop us. We have more work to do for the most marginalized people.
Like so many of you, the team at WEPAN has been working tirelessly to navigate impacts. We do want to highlight some of the necessary shifts. Given the reasons described for the award terminations, it is a priority to ensure that this work is no longer related to the NSF, thus “ARC Network” will be sunset and archived as an initiative and entity of WEPAN.
The ARC Network Library materials will be housed within the WEPAN Knowledge Center which will continue to support resource curation and sharing. Currently, the Library is still accessible on Mendeley.
WEPAN will continue its tradition of producing convenings, webinars, and other events along with continuing the practice integrating aspects of WEPAN’s grant-funded initiatives, however, WEPAN will discontinue use of the ARC banner and branding.
Over the last eight years, the ARC Network team has appreciated the opportunities we have had to bring members of this community together, to facilitate the work of change, and to be a place of reflection, accountability, and growth. As we find ways to move forward in these confusing and troubling times, we encourage continued grace, compassion, and solidarity.
We are grateful for this community and the continued existence of everyone in it.
