Grief and loss can happen at any time, to any of us. Every one of us will experience it, and some of us will suffer devastating losses. However, when it does happen, the workplace is rarely prepared for it, either in the immediate aftermath or the months and years to come. Bereaved people can be left feeling isolated, unsupported and adrift. This affects the well-being of everyone in the team and has consequences for the organisation as a whole. I am determined to open up conversations about grief in the workplace and enable us to better support our employees, colleagues, and friends. My sessions intend to remove much of the discomfort, stigma and misconceptions around grief and give people insight and understanding they are often afraid or unwilling to seek out. It includes first-hand experiences of grief, what helped, what didn’t and how we can create a more supportive, empathetic culture that will benefit us all.
