Child helplines are often the first point of contact when a child or teen is in crisis. A quick and reliable response is essential to ensuring safe intervention in these circumstances. However, many helplines are limited to voice calls. Unable to reach out on the social media platforms children and youth prefer, there is a huge and widening gap of millions who still struggle to make contact with child helpline services. When helplines do support social media, counselors are often required to use entirely separate systems to handle these varied channels, which makes managing the contact and processing the data difficult. Aselo unifies the communications work of global child helplines, allowing children and youth to reach out to helplines using their preferred communications channel such as social media channels, webchat, and text, in addition to more traditional phone calls. Designed to be customizable to each helpline we work with, Aselo supports crisis response helplines beyond just the child helpline movement. If your helpline provides counseling, information, referrals and/or needs case management, Aselo is designed with your helpline in mind. Many of our features are built to be flexible, modular, and optional. Aselo is already the tech platform behind one helpline for adults, and we’re deploying Aselo for Internet and online harm hotlines as well.
