Atlantic Provinces Association for Behavior Analysis

In recent years the Atlantic Canada region (Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island) has seen a growing interest in behaviour analysis. The Atlantic Provinces Association for Behaviour Analysis (APABA) is a professional organization representing behaviour analysis in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. APABA is an Affiliate Chapter of the Association for Behaviour Analysis International. Our chapter actively seeks innovative ways to connect individuals interested in behaviour analysis to enable greater participation in intellectual exchange and dissemination of the science of behaviour. The mission of APABA is to be a source of leadership and support in the sharing and practice of the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis across the Atlantic Provinces, through the provision of professional development, networking, and advocacy. APABA’s membership consists of a broad range of professionals including Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs); Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analysts (BCaBAs); psychologists; occupational therapists; speech-language pathologists; K-12, college, and university educators; physicians; nurses; administrators; and students interested in behaviour analysis. The association advocates for applied behaviour analysis and evidenced-based practices among the public, the professions, and governments. Members are able to take advantage of new opportunities for continuing education and network with colleagues in their region who share their interests and/or have complementary skills. APABA’s volunteer Executive Board has been elected to represent behaviour analysis in the Atlantic Provinces since 2014.
