The Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering is an international research and education environment dedicated to living systems, organism biology, efficient production, and the transformation of chemicals, materials, and energy, while addressing the challenges of sustainability and a circular economy. We are devoted to researching and sharing knowledge in biotechnology, food technology, environmental technology, chemical engineering, industrial biotechnology, medical biotechnology, and electrochemical engineering. We strive to translate this knowledge into innovative technologies and impactful, value-creating solutions and we educate our students to do the same. At the department we educate students as Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and PhD within the fields of chemical engineering, biotechnology and food technology. We are setting out an ambitious and transformative vision to be the department that creates the technologies and the solutions, for serving the green transition and the development of better health for people.
