Welcome to Autism Learning Worlds—where kids with autism can shine one step at a time. I’m Lauren Lashmet, and I’ve spent the past decade supporting neurodiverse kids—and building the kind of learning tools I always wished existed when I first started teaching. Autism Learning Worlds began in Room 214—my very first classroom as a Teach For America corps member in Chicago. I was teaching thirteen middle schoolers with autism, alongside two aides, with almost no materials. My students were bright, sensitive, and loved using iPads—but I couldn’t find online tools designed specifically for how they learned. That experience never left me. Over the years, I’ve taught in autism cluster programs, earned a Master’s in Special Education from Dominican University, and later completed another Master’s in Learning Design and Technology from Harvard. Most recently, I worked as a course designer at Stanford, creating accessible education for medical professionals. Autism Learning Worlds brings all of that together. It’s a joyful, visual platform where K–8 learners with autism can build emotional regulation, social skills, and real-life confidence—through animated stories, interactive games, and printable tools. Whether it’s learning how to handle frustration, join a group, or follow a routine, our content is designed to be clear, affirming, and rooted in real-world application. We’re constantly improving, testing with teachers and families, and growing our library of supportive tools.
