Baldwin & Co. Foundation believes readers are leaders, and that people of all backgrounds can find purpose and fulfillment through the power of reading. We partner with Baldwin & Co., the New Orleans-based independent bookstore, to invest in at-risk youth, and unharness their potential as thinkers, dreamers and high achievers. Taking inspiration from James Baldwin, we create community hubs where writers, activists, and visionaries gather, network, and light the way for the nation’s reconciliation with its history. OUR PRIORITIES • We support Baldwin & Co.'s Conversations With Creatives – author talks that connect the thought leaders of today with our community of future leaders, encouraging them to reach, prosper, and strive for a just and inclusive world. • We join with families and schools to fill gaps in the educational infrastructure, nurturing children through literacy training and after-school mentoring. • We help young people become lifelong learners, using literacy as a tool to overcome academic barriers and interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline.
