Barata Arquitectos

B+B Architects is an architecture, urban planning and interior design studio also dedicated to real estate investment consultancy. Our activity has been awarded with national and international praise, notably in the areas of rehabilitation, conservation and restoration, social housing programs, school and cultural equipments and public space interventions. While we strive to achieve a guiding thread between the place and the work, we particularly care for the preservation of the patrimonial identity, ultimately contributing to the rehabilitation of disqualified areas and social utility in our projects. We build architecture through the design of light (space), silence (programme) and gravity (construction). Together with a permanent sense of critical evaluation and experimentation in our research and practice, we're particularly sensitive to the place, its history and pre existence. B+B architects is born out of the association of Francisco Barata Fernandes, Arquitectos Lda, founded in 1999 by the Architect and FAUP lecturer Francisco Barata Fernandes, with Manuel Barata, architect. The redefinition of the studio’s identity – structured in 2017 – is the result of a strong desire to broaden our territory and find new and bigger challenges, through an alliance of a permanent collaboration with different knowledge areas to the globalisation of our ideas on the practice of architecture.
