The Basecamp Adventure Trust aims to provide outdoor adventure and social and emotional coaching programmes to young people (aged 11 – 14) who for whatever reason are experiencing difficulties or disadvantage in their life.
Our aim is to work with young people over a 2-year period, in which they will learn the importance of developing self-belief, resilience and the very real power that lies in passion and purpose. We want to take them on a journey to discover their own hopes and dreams and, more importantly, help them develop some of the tools they’ll need to realise those dreams. In short, our aim is to help them to improve their emotional wellbeing and enhance their life-chances.
Our motto: challenge, inspire, celebrate, informs our approach. The ‘challenge’ element comes from our Basecamp Adventure days and residentials, the ‘inspire’ aspect from our uniquely devised ‘Dare to Dream’ Coaching programme and the ‘celebrate’ praises every child’s participation in the two.
We feel passionately that taking part in outdoor adventures acts as a springboard for personal development and growth, as well as enabling the children to access a different headspace, and strongly believe the coaching programme will bolster and deepen these experiences. Quite simply, we want to encourage them, push them and empower them to dream bigger.
