Bauhaus Bites is a EU-funded project with the goal to transform food systems in urban settings. This will include work in boosting sustainable diets, helping secure our planet’s future by ensuring that the transformed food environments of tomorrow are sustainable, inclusive and beautiful.
The project will look at how diets can be anchored locally through multi-functional nature-based solutions (NBS) to enhance biodiversity and human well-being, and address climate change. This will be implemented in three trailblazer cities; Birmingham, Fundão, Zagreb, and four other cities; Murska Sobota, Ostend, Palermo, Sarajevo.
Bauhaus Bites offers a unique approach not yet seen in food system transformation projects, that will reimagine these food environments together with local, culturally diverse communities, customised to meet their needs, and anchored in social meeting spaces that carry meaning for them.
The BB approach will be based on inclusive participation and co-creation, including city and regional authorities, community- and business-driven initiatives, and inhabitants and end users of the food environments.
Bauhaus Bites officially started on November 1st, 2024 and will last for 3 years. Bauhaus Bites responds to the HORIZON-CL6-2024-COMMUNITIES-01 call and is funded under the topic: Resilient, inclusive, healthy and green rural, coastal and urban communities.
