BDE is the Federation of the German Waste, Water and Raw Materials Management Industry. Its 750 members account for a large portfolio of activities in the area of environmental services. These activities cover the entire value chain of the circular economy. The activities of BDE members range from the collection, sorting and recycling of waste, to the reintroduction of secondary raw materials and products recovered from recycling into the production cycle. The circular economy plays a significant role for environmental protection and the conservation of important resource. Today, one out of seven tonnes of raw materials used in Germany emanate from recycled materials. Entrepreneurship is at the heart of BDE: SMEs make up for more than 90 per cent of our membership. The industry is driven by highly-specialized family businesses with extensive regional roots.
