We enable individuals and families, with Non-Visible Disabilities, transition into life in four aspects of assistance; financial, physical, mental and social.
Financial: As provincial unemployment insurance can be very low, barley covering rent, we endeavour to help cover other necessary expenses and monthly payments during an individual’s transitional period, enabling them to focus on their overall wellbeing without nursing them with the additional stress and worry. We also offer them financial counselling, helping to ensure that they will be able to become self sufficient.
Physical: in most cases, Governmental assistance coverage is usually limited to basic physiotherapy. Our role is to help cover the other costs that are essential to a complete physical rehabilitation program such as personal and strengthening training as well as many other beneficial needed therapies not covered by the provincial health insurance.
Mental: whilst in some cases, the government covers Psychiatrists cost, we find that many people do not want to reply solely on medication. We endeavour to cover full or partial costs for psychologists, therapists and other types of counselling such as family and marriage counselling
Social: peer to peer programs on a needs basis such as spouse support (since we understand it can be as challenging for the partner as it is for the individual themselves), day care assistance (allowing the person time and freedom to look for a new job or learn a specific skill required for a potential job), as well advice in career development and working with them as a life coach helping them integrate into their new world.
