About Ben's Centre For Vulnerable People (SHEFFIELD)

Founded in 1996, what was then known as Ben’s Place, was set up by ‘Ben’ PC Ian Sherman. Ben was the town hall bobby, which at the time was a regular haunt for city street drinkers. After witnessing the cycle of arrests of street drinkers for them only to return to the streets, Ben recognised the need for a different approach. Since then, Ben’s Centre has grown substantially in reach and range of services. We work with some of the most vulnerable people in our city, offering them support with substance misuse, alcoholism, homelessness and much more. We currently run a walk-in day centre provision, outreach services and tenancy support. Our holistic and non-judgmental approach is essential to how we work with clients and enrich their lives.
