The mission of BEDS Plus Care is to help vulnerable individuals stabilize their lives through housing and supportive services.
Our vision is to end homelessness in Southwest Suburban Cook County, where we primarily serve the Townships of Lemont, Lyons, Palos, Proviso, Orland, Riverside, Stickney and Worth. As a Suburban Cook County Coordinated Entry partner, we also serve prioritized clients from throughout the County.
Through deliberate planning and strategic implementation, we have been able to reach nine times more people over the past six years. During that period, over 4,000 clients have used our homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, and housing programs. BEDS partnered with each of these individuals and families to provide case management; physical, mental, and behavioral healthcare; and social services, including connections to employment opportunities. 2,900 have secured stable housing.
In fiscal year 2021, BEDS Plus served more than 2,800 unique clients, a 67% increase from the year before. With the help of all staff as well as our wonderful and dedicated volunteers, we were able to safely shelter 391 individuals in area motels and engaged over 200 individuals through Street Outreach. Ultimately, we were able to see 90% of our clients leave our programs with stable housing.
