Bidship offers an online transport marketplace where shippers that need goods transported meet with transporters who have excess loads or space available on their trucks. Shippers simply list their transport requirements or load details and competing transporters bid for your delivery. The process is facilitated by reverse auction style bidding which drives the price of transport down. This means that you will no longer pay set prices but rather dynamic pricing which is purely driven by supply and demand of vehicles available in the market or area. When transporters compete you win. The process is simple: 1. You place your free listing at bidship.co.za and set your collection and delivery address along with your required transport timeframe. Select your target price and bid closing date and time. 2. Hundreds of transporters are then notified of your new listing. 3. Competing transporters then bid on your shipment. 4. You are notified of any bids placed and you can then appoint your preferred transporter. 5. Once you accept the bid your transporter is then notified and he will then receive the transport consignment note which details the shipment information. 6. While your goods are in transit you live tracking visibility of your shipment on www.bidship.co.za. This will allow you to track your shipment on one source even if you use multiple transporters at the same time. 7. You are notified once the goods are delivered. Best of all the BidShip services are free to shippers. Transporters pay a small percentage matching fee but this fee is minimal given the opportunities of optimising the use of their vehicles. Transporters who don’t have the means to market their business can now use BidShip as a reach service to attract loads they would normally not have access to through their normal marketing channels.
