BIOETHANOL France est le nouveau nom du Syndicat National des Producteurs d’Alcool Agricole (SNPAA). Ce syndicat professionnel représente les intérêts des producteurs de bioéthanol-carburant et d’alcool traditionnel. Il met en œuvre un programme d’actions en faveur du climat et de la souveraineté.
Les membres de Bioéthanol France sont Tereos, Cristal Union, Roquette Frères, Bioénergie du Sud-Ouest (Vertex Bioenergy) et Ryssen Alcools. Ils produisent, à partir de betterave à sucre, de blé, de maïs et des résidus de leur transformation, environ 21% de l’alcool agricole européen, pour les débouchés de l’alcool traditionnel et du bioéthanol-carburant. Le bioéthanol est utilisé dans les essences SP95, SP98 et SP95-E10 et dans le carburant Superéthanol-E85, destinés aux véhicules légers.
