BioMat (Biobased Materials and Material Cycles in Architecture) offers architectural design services, building components development from scratch till production as well as consultation towards innovative sustainable architecture and green building technologies. The design philosophy is based on minimizing the CO2 emissions through applying diverse annually renewable plant based materials, enhancing circular economy and bio-economy logics for the construction sector. The design philosophy “Materials as a Design Tool” -(c)Dahy - is applied as a main input in the three main factors of integrating materials/design/fabrication for the development and design processes. Custom-based solutions and multidisciplinary cooperation take place as a daily business. Offered systems include -not limited to- indoor applications like acoustic absorption and thermal insulation bio-panels, flooring systems, furniture, partitions, cladding systems and interior design solutions of all kinds and fitting systems. Exterior applications include facade cladding elements, shell constructions (design and construction supervision), bio-based bridges (architectural design- cooperation with other teams for appliance), and others. Our goal at BioMat is to explore innovative solutions for future sustainable Architecture. The design philosophy of BioMat sees material properties as a design tool, merging the fields of Material Research, Architectural Design, and Digital Fabrication to create feasible sustainable applications for the built environment.
