BioSilta is a privately-held, entrepreneurial company that invented the patented EnBase technology, bringing the founders’ in-depth knowledge and experience from the world of large-scale biomolecule production into the research laboratory. It all started in 2004, at the Biocenter at Oulu University in Finland. In the world of bioproduction, precise control of growth conditions is well-recognized as essential for successfully maximizing the yield and quality of products from microbial cultures. However, equipment complexity and costs associated with using large-scale bioreactors made it seemingly impossible to achieve similar success at smaller scales in the research laboratory. Then Dr. Peter Neubauer and his team decided to attempt the impossible and the idea behind the patented EnBase technology was born.
Founded in 2007 in Oulu, Finland, BioSilta is now headquartered in Cambridge, UK. The company, comprised of a multi-national group of individuals with collectively over 150 years of experience in the biotech industry, is financed by the investment companies, Omega Funds, Inveni Capital and Oulun Seudun Hyvinvointirahasto.
