BioStorage, LLC provides biorepository services for the biotech, research, pharmaceutical, government, and medical communities. The company is located in North East Baltimore County, three miles from Interstate-95, making it easily accessible to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, University of Maryland Campuses, and the National Institutes of Health.
CAPABILITIES Services and products currently offered are:
o Biological specimen management (bioprocessing, short-term/long-term storage, distribution, and destruction)
o Supply gases (LN2, CO2, etc) and cryogenic accessories (freezer racks, cryovials, cryoboxes, etc)
o Disaster Management (pre-leasing of storage space, disaster recovery)
FACILITIES Consists of a warehouse (4,797 sq ft), office space (672 sq ft), and laboratory space (225 sq ft). The warehouse has sufficient warehouse space for growth over the next ten (10) years. Storage capabilities include ambient, -20°C, -80°C, LN2, +4°C. There is adequate power supply for freezers, air-conditioning, and a backup diesel generator.
SECURITY/BUSINESS CONTINUITY Monitored 24 hours, 7 days per week with keypad security systems that have internal motion sensors and external security cameras. Access to building and warehouse is controlled.
Standby freezers and dry ice are readily available for emergency situations. The Central Monitoring System (CMS) contacts three persons during an alarm situation. Response is within 30 minutes. The business continuity program aligns with current Federal guidance, including Continuity Guidance Circular (CGC) – 101
QUALITY Committed to protecting clients’ valuable specimens by adhering to industry Best Practices ─ International Society of Biological and Environmental Repositories [ISBER] and The National Cancer Institute Guidelines for Biorepositories ─ as well as company and client standard operating procedures. Staff is trained accordingly and equipment is maintained semi-annually.
