BorderSens

The ultimate research aim of BorderSens project is to develop a portable, wireless single prototype device with the capability to quickly test for different types of drugs, precursors and adulterants/cutting agents, with outstanding accuracy and reduced false positives and false negatives. This innovative platform will combine robust sensor technologies with the inherent advantages of electrochemical strategies, nano-molecularly imprinted polymers, and multivariate and pattern data analysis. BorderSens will demonstrate the innovative technological solutions at seven demonstrations sites at EU borders with end-users and ensure exploitation plans guaranteeing strong impact. BorderSens consortium comprises 16 partners from 8 EU member states: University of Antwerp, University of Leicester, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iuliu Hatieganu Cluj-Napoca, Belgian National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology, Autonomous University of Barcelona, General Inspectorate of Romanian Police, Metrohm DropSens, Dutch Customs Laboratory, Scottish Police Authority, Izertis, Belgian Customs – Port of Antwerp and Zaventem Airport, Swedish Customs, General Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police, Luxembourg Police Grand-Ducale, Customs Criminal Service Lithuania and Home Office - Border Force.
