Bosisi Designs is a handbag and accessory company with a mission to help underserved women by giving them an opportunity to work and lift themselves out of poverty. We hire South African women to sew gorgeous handbags, reusable shopping bags, backpacks and accessories for women via our e-commerce website and social media pages.
Women earn 23% less than men globally and in South Africa it is even higher. 38% of households in SA are headed by women however they need work with decent wages in order to support their families and change the cycle of poverty. Approximately 20% of children under the age of 18 stop attending school due to cost. By giving women jobs they are able to keep kids in school, provide proper nutrition and also build their communities.
Our beautiful seamstresses work hard to make each and every product by hand to ensure quality, performance and longevity. All leather and fabric are sourced in South Africa and help the local economy. Local fabric called shweshwe (pronounced shway-shway) comes in many bold colors and repeating patterns that add excitement and a sense of empowerment to our beautiful products. The best-selling Shopper tote is a reusable, machine washable oversized bag great for groceries and retail shopping, carryall, travel bag, diaper bag and more! Our leather bags are sturdy, deceptively large and very functional while being stylish at the same time.
