The harsh reality is that Sickle Cell Disease remains shrouded in mystery, despite its prevalence. Many know of it, but few grasp its fundamentals. The lack of understanding leads to delayed diagnoses, inadequate management, and a reduced quality of life for patients and caregivers alike.
This is where BSC steps in – to bridge the knowledge gap, clarify misconceptions, and empower individuals to take control of their health. Our mission is fourfold:
1. Educate on Sickle Cell basics, dispelling myths and misconceptions.
2. Empower informed decisions, enabling individuals to manage their health effectively.
3. Enhance the quality of life for SCD patients and caregivers.
4. Foster a supportive community, breaking the cycle of isolation.
At the helm of this movement is Dr. Mbonjo Bitsie Dora, a medical doctor, assistant clinical researcher, and passionate Sickle Cell advocate. Born and raised in Cameroon, Dr. Dora's determination to break the sickle cycle drives her work, despite not being a Sickle Cell patient herself.
With a strong academic background and bilingual proficiency in English and French. Dr. Dora has leveraged social media platforms to raise awareness, educate, and inspire. Her expertise has earned her invitations to speak on Dash TV and Casmando Radio Station, counseling over 1,000+ participant.
