BruinSpace at UCLA fosters a creative and supportive environment for space mission design and development. Our mission is to inspire enthusiasm for the aerospace industry through innovative space and spacecraft engineering projects. Our diverse teams, composed of students from all backgrounds and majors—including artists, physicists, business professionals, scientists, and engineers—are united by a common passion for space exploration. Located near the heart of the aerospace industry in El Segundo, BruinSpace empowers UCLA students to apply their passion, skills, and innovation to ambitious real-world space challenges, making tangible impacts at UCLA. At the core of BruinSpace are three hands-on aerospace projects: • Project Rapid: Our flagship initiative provides a professional setting for students to develop, manufacture, and launch satellites, laying the foundation for future student space experimentation and research. • Project Overseer: A quarterly project focused on high-altitude balloon payload development, offering an accessible platform for scientific experiments and technology demonstrations, and providing valuable skills for students with limited engineering experience. • Forge: An education and development program dedicated to upskilling members through introductory workshops and specialized training, equipping them with essential skills to contribute effectively to projects. Through these immersive projects and learning opportunities, BruinSpace prepares a skilled next generation of space pioneers. We promote space technology through engineering achievements and outreach, continuously advancing space capabilities and inspiring enthusiasm for the aerospace industry. BruinSpace operates under the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UCLA's Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science.
