About BU/BMC Preventive Medicine Training Program
Join our program to become a catalyst for change in the field of public health, with a particular focus on health equity and prevention. Our program offers two distinct tracks: one in Community Prevention and Maternal Health Equity and another in Immigrant and Refugee Health. These tracks provide specialized training, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the unique challenges and disparities faced by these populations. Our comprehensive curriculum places a strong emphasis on health equity, ensuring that you are well-prepared to tackle health disparities and promote inclusive, accessible healthcare for all. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside expert faculty mentors and earn a degree from the esteemed Boston University School of Public Health, renowned for its scholarship on the social determinants of health. Throughout your training, you'll gain valuable experience through clinical rotations at Boston Medical Center, one of New England's largest safety-net hospitals, and selected community partners. These rotations will sharpen your skills in clinical preventive medicine and provide real-world exposure to the issues facing medically underserved communities. In addition to clinical experience, our program includes practicum rotations at governmental public health agencies, allowing you to put your knowledge into action. You'll actively contribute to public health initiatives, making a meaningful impact on the well-being of communities in need. At our program, we take pride in fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. We accept applicants who have completed a three-year primary care residency (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family) and are board eligible/certified, creating a supportive community of like-minded professionals dedicated to public health and health equity
