CARAMEL Horizon Europe Project

CARAMEL (CArdiovascular Risk Assessment in MEnopausaL women via multimodal data analysis enabling personalized prevention strategies) is a Horizon Europe-funded project designed to transform cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention for women aged 40-60. CVD is the leading cause of death among women in Europe, with a significant rise in risk during and after menopause. Despite this, current risk models often fail to consider sex- and gender-specific factors, leaving women underdiagnosed and undertreated. CARAMEL addresses this urgent need by developing AI-driven, personalized prevention strategies based on comprehensive risk assessment models tailored to menopausal women. Through the integration of clinical data, medical imaging, wearable devices, and lifestyle information, the project will deliver innovative tools for self-assessment, self-management, and digital empowerment. Advanced diagnostic technologies, including skin nanosensors and NMR-based biomarkers, will also support earlier and more precise risk detection.
