Cascade Markets Group is a student-led organization at Virginia Tech for students who are passionate about the financial markets and deeply motivated to develop their investment knowledge and market intuition. Our members are intellectually curious, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are eager to learn, improve, and challenge themselves through research, analysis, and debate. The primary mission of CMG is to build strong market knowledge and investment acumen through rigorous exploration of financial markets. We do this by engaging in macro and microeconomic research, tracking global market developments, debating ideas, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. While many of our members pursue roles in asset management, wealth management, sales & trading, investment research, and capital markets, our core identity is centered around one thing: a relentless interest in how markets move and why. Our Focus Areas: Market Education: In-depth exploration of macroeconomic indicators, yield curves, credit spreads, equity indexes, and asset class fundamentals. Investment Research: Thesis development, valuation work, modeling basics, and investment pitches grounded in real-world data. Market Awareness: Weekly updates and structured discussions of current market events and cross-asset themes. Career Preparation: Recruiting preparation for S&T, investment research, asset and wealth management, and capital markets roles.
