Catalyst creates bold, ambitious, and highly theatrical music-driven productions that are presented across Canada and around the world. Catalyst’s creative team aims for the unexpected, seeking out innovative ways to tell powerful stories that excite the minds, ignite the hearts, and inspire the imaginations of diverse contemporary audiences. Through the integration of evocative music, haunting sound, poetic text, dynamic choreography & surreal design, we create detailed, multi-layered, and imaginative productions that resonate in powerful and unexpected ways, unearthing the hidden corners of human experience and expressing what words alone cannot. Catalyst productions have been presented by London’s Barbican Theatre (BITE) and the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT), The New Victory Theater and New World Stages (New York), Canadian Stage and the Luminato Festival (Toronto), Theatre Calgary, Vertigo Theatre, the High Performance Rodeo (Calgary), Vancouver Playhouse, the PuSH Festival, the Arts Club Theatre and The Cultch (Vancouver), The Traverse Theatre (Edinburgh), The Tron Theatre (Glasgow), The Playhouse (Liverpool), Magnetic North Theatre Festival (Ottawa), The Citadel Theatre (Edmonton), Persephone Theatre (Saskatoon), Le Carrefour International du Théatre (Québec), Keyano Theatre (Fort McMurray), and the Yukon Arts Centre (Whitehorse). Catalyst Theatre also the recipient of more than 147 awards & nominations including two Fringe First Awards (Edinburgh), one Herald Angel Award (Edinburgh), three UK Stage Awards, and three Lortel Award Nominations. Catalyst Theatre is located on ᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Amiskwacîwâskahikan), Treaty 6, as well as Region 4 of Métis Nation of Alberta, the traditional territories of the nêhiyawak, Saulteaux, Niisitapi, Nakota Sioux, Dene, Métis, and other peoples.
