The Computational Biology Unit works at the intersection of computer and life science. Its primary focus is on developing and implementing novel computational methods and apply these in the pursuit of fundamental biological questions. Our research focuses mainly on the six themes below: 👩💻 Biomolecular modelling 🧮 Mathematical modelling 🧬 RNA biology 🦠 Marine systems biology 💊 Precision medicine 🤰 Women's health Moreover, CBU and the Department of Informatics offer Bachelor‘s and Master‘s programmes in bioinformatics to obtain solid competence in informatics including programming, algorithms, and machine learning, as well as basic knowledge within molecular biology and medicine. CBU is also hosting ELIXIR Norway, a collaboration between five universities across Norway and part of ELIXIR, the pan-European infrastructure for biological data, supporting life science research and its translation to medicine, environment, the bioindustries and society.
