A brief history:
Corrosion Control Research Cell (CCRC) was founded in 2000 by Prof. Dr. Ijaz Hussain Khan (founder of Metallurgy & Materials Engineering in Pakistan), "a pioneer of Metallurgy in Pakistan". He completed his Physical Metallurgy from London University and DIC in Physical Metallurgy from Imperial College of Science and Technology (UK) in 1966. He was elected PIChE, PIME, IEP (Chemical Section),Society of Corrosion Engineers Pakistan, Chief Editor "The Pakistan Metallurgist", Editor of "The Engineers", Chief Editor "PIChE Journal" & Honorary Editor of the "Monthly Horizons" Lahore. He authored >90 research papers, technical reports, 4 books and provided technical assistance to the national industry.
Dr. Ameeq Farooq (Assistant Professor, IMME, PU), a student of Prof. Dr. Ijaz Hussain Khan, is now in-charge of CCRC. He received PhD, M.Sc. and B.Sc. degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering in 2023, 2013 and 2010,respectively. At present, Mr. Ameeq Farooq is working as a Vice Chair of Association of Materials Protection and Performance(AMPP)(Formerly NACE International), an active member of Society of Corrosion Engineers(SOCEP),Institute of Corrosion (Icorr),International Corrosion Council (ICC),Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Mr. Ameeq has been awarded ‘NACE Distinguished Service Award 2021’ and is the recipient of appreciation certificates in 2020, 2021 and 2022 from the European Federation of Corrosion (EFC). He has published more than 60 research articles in peer reviewed journals of high repute and presented his research work at many national & international forums.
