CH4 Microbial Solutions

We utilize methanotrophic microbes to prevent methane from entering the atmosphere or to digest it after it is in the atmosphere. Methane is by weight more then 80 times more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere compared to carbon dioxide. It is of paramount importance to control it's release and composition throughout the planet. The progressive warming of the planet threatens to open up previously stable carbon reservoirs to degradation by methanogenic bacteria into methane which can function as a positive feedback loop in which further warming leads to more rapid release of methane. Microbes that digest methane are the primary method of removing methane from the atmosphere and the utilization of highly active methanotrophic species can allow for the control of methane release.
