About Ryan Delaney

I am a BioEngineer. I currently work as founder and head of research at CH4 Microbial Solutions. I graduated with my MS from the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus with a degree in Bioengineering. Before that I earned a BS in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. I have a strong academic background in biology, mathematics and engineering. I earned the award of being the outstanding Bioengineering Masters student in 2014 for my department. I recently completed my thesis and will have it adapted for publication shortly. The thesis covers tradition molecular biology and engineering techniques such as fluorescence microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, cell culture, animal studies and PCR. It also delved into more complex research methods such as 3D culturing, microfluidics, rapid prototyping and finite element analysis simulation. This along with my undergraduate research into biofuels production has given me broad engineering experience with a solid ground in biology.

University Of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
I worked as a bioengineering research assistant in a molecular biology lab studying the disease of pulmonary hypertension (PH). My work involved taking standard biology research techniques, taking the results obtained pertaining to PH and tying them to novel bioengineering research methods. I used standard molecular biology research techniques such as cell culture, western blots, PCR, cell isolation, immunofluorescent staining, light microscopy, epifluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and animal models. I also worked with standard bioengineering techniques such as, mechanical strength testing, polymer design, microfluidics, DICOM image analysis, CAD design, rapid prototyping, statistical analysis, finite element analysis simulation and programming. I worked to develop novel techniques in the areas of real time cell tracking, tissue decellularization, 3D cell culturing, vascular permeability testing, and automated image analysis. I presented my results and adapted them personally for journal publication.
