About Centre for Human Right, Health, Ethnic Harmony & Livelihood Development

Centre for Human Rights, Health, Ethnic Harmony and Livelihood Development (CHHELD) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization established in the Year 2015 but duly registered on the 28th day of November, 2018 with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Just as the name implies we are geared towards providing succor in areas such as Human Rights, Health (access to primary health care), Peace and Conflict Resolutions and Poverty Alleviation. Our core target beneficiaries are the Less Privileged, People living with Disability, Host Communities of the extractive sector and the Nigerian populace at large. Our head office (Harmony Centre) is located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with focal persons’/field offices in all the states of the federation including the FCT. OUR MISSION: CHHELD aims to be a leading non-governmental organization with an expert background on traditional conflict resolution/governance methodology, Democracy/Governance, Rule of law, Livelihood development and Policy Research, in/ partnership with local communities through dialogue with key stakeholders aimed at improving ethnic harmony & religious tolerance also to support the progress made by those negatively affected by activities of extractive industries and weak governance through, advocacy, Research, economic and rights-based community empowerment. We strive to promote human rights and demand participatory/responsive governance that meets international best practices at all levels. OUR VISION: CHHELD encourages peaceful and healthy coexistence amongst Nigeria’s diverse ethnic beliefs, cultures and value systems. Our vision is to ensure that fundamental human rights, access to basic primary health care – including political cum-economic and social development – are not abandoned in one part of Nigeria to the convenience of others.
