Working together to build communities, respect and promoting diversity are at the core of our university’s values, and at the heart of what we do here in our award-winning Confucius Institute.
The Institute first opened its doors on 20th December 2011 as a result of successful partnership between Lancaster University and South China University of Technology in Guangzhou.
Based in the Roundhouse at Lancaster’s Bailrigg campus, the building was originally designed as a language laboratory. We remain true to the original purpose of the building, acting as a centre for immersion in Chinese language and culture, research, teaching and collaboration.
We work with students, staff, schools, businesses and engage with local communities, acting as a focal point for China-related activities in Lancaster and the wider North West region, from Carlisle in Cumbria to Blackpool on the Fylde coast.
