How can CO2 help to reduce CO2 emissions?
The CO2OLHEAT project’s ambition is to support the EU’s energy efficiency targets and GHG emissions reduction. It aims to recuperate the unused industrial waste heat and transform it into electrical energy using supercritical CO2 (sCO2). Most recent innovations and cutting-edge technologies will be employed to design and demonstrate the EU-first-of-its-kind sCO2 power plant.
This waste-heat-to-power application is based on a closed cycle with sCO2 as a working fluid. As a result, the power plant will generate completely clean energy while saving a significant amount of primary energy and thus also CO2 emissions.
A consortium of 21 members will develop this pioneer sCO2 power bloc and demonstrate it in a cement plant in Prachovice in the Czech Republic.
