Cobalt Property Group, LLC was formed in 2017 by Principals Patrick Marr, David Stern, and Steven Kleiman. Cobalt is the aggregation of decades of real estate experience by its founders, consolidating under one firm a broad spectrum of disciplines including acquisitions, development, finance, leasing and construction.
Mr. Marr previously owned and managed the Charleston-based CMB Property Company, focused on the acquisition of multifamily and office buildings in the $10-25 million range in both Charleston and Washington, DC. Mr. Marr has spent 30 years in the commercial real estate industry with CB Richard Ellis and Newmark Knight Frank, consistently ranked a top national producer completing over 3,000 lease transactions.
Mr. Stern, previously a Principal with Washington, DC-based ICG Properties, brings 25 years of institutional development expertise to Cobalt. His diverse experience includes design and entitlement, finance, leasing, and historic preservation.
Mr. Kleiman recently relocated to Charleston, SC after spending 17 years in New York City. He was most recently a Senior Investment Professional at Monarch Alternative Capital, LP, leading opportunistic real estate debt and equity investments globally. Mr. Kleiman began his career at BlackRock, Inc., ultimately holding senior roles in its fixed-income investment division and its highly publicized financial advisory business, where he led the Commercial Real Estate securities team during the financial crisis from 2008 to 2012.
Cobalt seeks opportunistic investments across commercial real estate asset classes, from vertical development to asset repositioning and repurposing. Cobalt has the experience and relationships to execute on a broad range of project and investment sizes, from $10 million to $75+ million, including outright acquisitions, joint-venture partnerships and recapitalizations.
