CODE Cumbria

CODE Cumbria creates opportunities in digital employment and addresses the skills shortage within the tech sector through the delivery of Digital Skills Bootcamps. Combining technical skills learning with practical industry experience, the immersive programme upskills and trains individuals, creating a new generation of digital talent. Bringing together local businesses, trainers, coaches, and mentors, CODE Cumbria helps individuals to develop sector-specific skills and connects employers with potential candidates, with a guaranteed interview on completion. Our current programme involves around 90 hours of guided learning support via group sessions, which includes technical skills and employability skills development. Further hours of one-to-one coaching will get participants ready for employment. The curricula is designed through our work with Sellafield their supply chain and the nuclear and engineering industry sectors. The content has a strong focus on learning coding and gaining skills relevant to work in technical roles in the nuclear, engineering and supply chain sectors. From PLC programming skills to working with data using coding languages such as Python and SQL our course gives a solid foundation for learners seeking to gain employment in this sector. CODE Cumbria is fully funded by the Department of Education and Enterprising Cumbria and open to all residents in Cumbria aged 19 and over. Digital Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee to help everyone gain valuable Skills for Life.
