CKUK (Common Knowledge)

Common Knowledge (CKUK) is a unique, multi award winning, Glasgow based charity with big ideas for creating opportunities for people with learning difficulties to communicate, express, challenge and celebrate their opinions, passions and lives using accessible, innovative digital media. We are a family friendly, person centred organisation living wage providers and have been awarded the Volunteer Friendly award in 2017. We are signed up to the cycle to work campaign, Glasgow living wage, Scottish Digital inclusion charter. We intend to make our society fairer for people with learning difficulties and/ or Autism Over the last 13 years CKUK has developed an accessible social network, online magazine, several innovative online learning modules on bullying and hate crime, internet safety, sexual health, loss and bereavement, digital inclusion and peer education for young people with learning difficulties and/ or Autism We create imaginative solutions for people with learning disabilities and/ or Autism about what they want to learn. We can confidently claim that CKUK are unique because we are the only organisation in the UK to produce web and mobile based learning with people with learning difficulties and/ or Autism working alongside us. We are fully committed and do employ adults with learning difficulties and/ or Autism in every project as peer support workers. CKUK currently generates income from producing high quality accessible information called ‘friendly format’ for other organisations and in addition offer an accessible website and app development service. Our Clients include NHS, Scottish Government, Autism Scotland, Equality Commission,Scottish Drug Forum, and several Disability organisations and schools. We are currently looking at the feasibility of establishing a social firm to employ people with learning difficulties and/ or Autism.
