Common Knowledge is a nonpartisan organization committed to expanding community engagement and collective imagination for more inclusive and thriving local communnities. We believe that the complex issues facing our governments, economy and environment need the talents and energy of diverse community members, especially those who are assumed to be marginalized. Common Knowledge co-creates breakthrough community engagement programs that support sustainable social change. The name Common Knowledge embodies two underlying principles: 1) there are things that should be common knowledge but aren’t – such as how does my local government work, how do we provide health care, how can I get involved, etc. and 2) there is an essential knowledge that only comes from dialogue between diverse participants that generates mutual understanding and common ground for action.
