Our group is led by three healthcare / eye care experts with vast experience in doing deals, a patient experience leader at a large healthcare system, a former big 4 accounting partner and a lawyer at a large company both having extensive experience doing transactions, an operational expert and myself. We've recently joined together, bringing almost 200 years of collective experience, to transform the private practice sector within eye care.
With a highly fragmented industry, many owners at retirement age and stable growth, we see a tremendous opportunity in eye care. Furthermore, the cost of chronic eye conditions is expected to rise from $140 billion (as estimated by a study in 2012) to greater than $700 billion in the next few decades brought on by an aging population. Additionally, this growth is insulated by market cycles as chronic conditions require ongoing treatment and care.
Given this opportunity at hand, this is the perfect time to transform the industry. We intend to make a variety of acquisitions in the current year and beyond, while redefining the way patient experience is delivered.
