Connecting Trust

Connecting Trust is a volunteer-based, listening service in Pune, established in 2005 by Mrs. Arnavaz Damania. We offer active listening services as a service to the community through our distress helpline, emails, and other projects. Emotional distress is on the rise irrespective of the background of the individual, Connecting Trust believes that raising awareness for this important cause is the first step towards suicide prevention. We have 4 different projects namely the Distress Helpline Project (DHP), the Suicide Survivor Support Project (SSP), the Peer Education Project (PEP), and the Awareness Project. The volunteer at Connecting Trust listens completely and compassionately, simply being present fully and whole-heartedly. The felt presence of someone who truly cares is known from human experiences and also scientifically established, to be empowering. The listening is non-judgemental, accepting, and non-advisory. The felt presence is established through a deep belief in the power of the human spirit to turn to resources, answers, and direction from within and so guide the person enabling him/her to do so.
