We at ControLight Assistive Technologies aim to leverage the immense potential in technology to provide technovative solutions that help enable and empower differently abled children/individuals. We bring you ControLearn SDBT, a sensory development bubble tube to be used for the relaxation and sensory development of individuals with sensory developmental disorders such as Autism, ADHD, etc. in a snoezelen room (controlled multisensory environment). When children track the bubbles going up the tube, or feel the vibrations of the motor, it helps them relax and/or develop their visual senses. While there are many reported benefits of a bubble tube, a recently researched and vital benefit of it is teaching control through switch use, where when given buttons to control the bubble tube, disabled children develop control through switch use, which can help them to perform more complex tasks later in life. Currently in India, good bubble tubes have to be imported from outside at very high costs (lakhs of rupees), and these are also limited in their functionality (in most, you can't change light colour or control speed of bubbles). ControLearn SDBT, on the other hand, not only offers great affordability (it is made very cheap by using recyclable material) but also great functionality by allowing users to control light environments (they can choose from 256 possible colour RGB combinations) and the speed of bubbles. Additionally, ControLearn SDBT also brings a revolutionary new feature where it teaches control to these children through switch use, that helps develop their motor skills as well. We are currently looking for CSR funding to produce the first 100 units of ControLearn SDBT and make them available to institutes across Ahmedabad.
